wE BELIEVE IN DEVELOPING THE WHOLE CHILD BY ENCOURAGING INDEPENDENCE, COORDINATION, EMPATHY TOWARD OTHERS, AND HELPING CHILDREN BECOME MORE AWARE OF THEIR ENVIRONMENT AND TO BEGIN TO REALIZE THAT THEY ARE A PART OF A LARGER COMMUNITY. THIS HAS BEEN OUR PILOSOPHY SINCE MERCED MONTESSORI SCHOOL FIRST OPENED ITS DOORS IN 1978.
​   wE BELIEVE THAT A CHILD FEELS GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES WHEN THEY HAVE MASTERED THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT, AND FEELS EMOTIONALLY AND SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE IN SCHOOL, COMMUNITY AND FAMILY.

   wE FEEL THAT A CHILD IS POSITIVELY MOTIVATED TO BE COMPETENT INDEPENDENT, CREATIVE AND LOVING.  A CHILD SEES THE WORLD AROUND THEM WITH WONDER AND AWE. WE BELIEVE IN ENCOURAGING THEIR NATURAL CURIOSITY.

    OUR PURPOSE IS TO FACILITATE A SENSE OF INTELLECTUAL AND PHYSICAL COMPETENCE AND OF SOCIAL AWARENESS AND SKILLS.
